Leaves, Wine and a Hot Tub – Part 2

Tapas Friday Night

Visiting Crane Creek is always a treat and we were excited to check into the onsite cottage for the weekend. The cabin has 3 bedrooms, three bathrooms, kitchen, porch and hot tub. The view of the vineyards is secluded and quiet.  At 6:00, we headed over for Tapas and live music. The menu is fixed for the night, with an a la carte choice of two appetizers, a main dish, and desert.  Peter and I split the two appetizers, had a main dish each, and split the desert, and bought a bottle of wine to share. We were seated at a table of friends, and enjoyed the conversation and music, as well as the food and wine.  After finishing, we took the rest of our wine back to the hot tub to enjoy a soak before bedtime.

Vintner's Tour

Peter had a morning run around the vineyards, and then we had lunch, a chicken tortilla soup, on the porch off the tasting room. At 2:00, Eric, one of the owners, led the tour of the winery. He led us through the wine making process, visiting the fermentation tanks and the barrel room. The tour concluded with a seated wine tasting with a cheese and fruit table. Afterwards, we talked with others on the tour, enjoying the cheese and wine on the porch.

That evening, we sat on the porch, with our chicken salad sandwiches, more wine, meats, fruit and cheese, with another visit to the hot tub.

I can’t say enough about how friendly and accommodating everyone was at Crane Creek, and would highly recommend a visit. The staff is friendly and helpful, the site is beautiful and the wine is some of our favorites.

Beautiful Foggy Drive

Sunday it was time to head home. We first drove to Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia. We had planned to take the seasonal shuttle to the top, but decided to try another day when it wasn’t so foggy. During our trip home, we spent several miles fogged in, passing scenic pullovers we would have loved to stop at if we could see anything. At least we already had nice weather for leaf viewing.
